Director International Education Office, Mount Royal College

LORNA SMITH has been the Director of the International Education Office at Mount Royal College, Calgary,  since its inception in 1988.  In that role she has been responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of the college’s Internationalization Strategy.  This strategy has six main areas of focus : the development  of international partnerships, recruitment of international students and development of exchanges and work placements for Mount Royal students. Asia and North America, particularly Mexico, have been strong areas of focus for MRC International.  Mount Royal has been a member of the HKCBA for 10 years and its students have been the proud recipients of one of the annual HKCBA scholarships.

Ms. Smith holds a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario and has completed doctoral studies at the University of Calgary. She has served on the national Boards of the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC), the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) .
